The Process

We had a client who had a problem with young veal calves who would suck each others' teats, causing udder infections. This meant that when the cow reached milk-production age, it might give up to 50% less milk. It reminded us of the technique used by the monks of Soligny la Trappe.

Together we thought up a ring and the clamp to put it on and take it off the cattle's noses. The farmer tested the product back home, then told us that his milk-production problems had disappeared.

Because we were convinced that this easy-to-use yet discreet product would be useful to farmers, we took the next step of manufacturing and marketing it.

Once the tools and machines had been made, we proposed the idea to distributors of agricultural products. They told us that they were not interested, and above all that this product would not sell. In spite of what they said, we began advertising this product in specialised publications in the farming world, and in the SIMA exhibition in Paris(the International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition).

After 2 years the distributors began spreading the word and selling our ring.

As the years went by, we increased our range to 4 rings (60.1J, 60P, 60A, 60B) depending on the age of the animal, and another clamp which allowed the person to hold on to the animal with one hand when tending to it.
